Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.      Brent has officially been named the 2020 London Borough of Culture. 
Today, The Duchess of Cornwall joined residents to celebrate the borough’s new status.
This year Brent surpassed 21 other London Boroughs to win the £1 million funding, enabling them to stage a year-long programme of cultural events and initiatives.
At The Granville Centre in Kilburn, The Duchess met community volunteers and learnt about the co-working and event space on offer. The centre supports the local community with access to low cost fitness activities, workspaces, and business support.
Next, Her Royal Highness visited the recently renovated Kiln Theatre. The Duchess met young people turning their passions into projects as part of ‘The Agency’ project. Young people have been encouraged to apply for funding to help drive positive change in the community.More photos below.
