 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways. Many shops were destroyed when fire gutted some sections of Jabi motor Abuja on Friday.
The cause of the fire cannot be ascertained at the time of this report but men of the FCT fire service have arrived the scene .
The incident, which started at 10:12am, led to chaos as passengers and motorists scampered for safety.
The situation got worst when the fire spread to a shop where car batteries and car gas were being sold, causing more havoc .
As time of filing this report, FCT fire fighters have arrived the scene and are battling to put out the fire.
