 LAWMA SEALS PREMISES ON AGO PALACE WAY, ARRESTS 11 DUMPERS ON LAGOS ISLAND … Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Waste Disposal In renewed enforcement efforts, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed premises identified for persistent illegal waste dumping along Ago Palace Way and arrested 11 persons for illegal waste disposal in various parts of Lagos Island. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said that the enforcement operations underscored the Authority’s resolve to enforce existing waste management regulations and ensure compliance with approved waste disposal practices across Lagos. He explained that the Ago Palace Way operation covered plazas, hotels, lounges and warehouses along the corridor, as part of efforts to tackle activities contributing to waste build-up and environmental nuisance on road setbacks, medians and other unauthorised public spaces. SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES IN EFCC CUSTODY.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Nigerian Army has handed over two suspected oil thieves and a truck to the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The suspects, Patience David, 38 and Iniebong Udo Etim, 32 were arrested by the officers of 2 Brigade Nigerian Army during a routine patrol on March 2, 2020 at about 10.50am in Awa junction, Onna Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. .

They were arrested alongside a white truck containing illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, AGO stacked in sacks. The truck had no registration number.

Victor Ikang, Head of the zone’s Extractive Industry Fraud Section, received the suspects and the truck from the Army, on behalf of Garba Dugum, the Uyo zonal head.

The suspects are currently assisting the Commission with vital information and will soon be arraigned in court.More photos below.
