  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES IN EFCC CUSTODY.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Nigerian Army has handed over two suspected oil thieves and a truck to the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The suspects, Patience David, 38 and Iniebong Udo Etim, 32 were arrested by the officers of 2 Brigade Nigerian Army during a routine patrol on March 2, 2020 at about 10.50am in Awa junction, Onna Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. .

They were arrested alongside a white truck containing illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, AGO stacked in sacks. The truck had no registration number.

Victor Ikang, Head of the zone’s Extractive Industry Fraud Section, received the suspects and the truck from the Army, on behalf of Garba Dugum, the Uyo zonal head.
