 NSC DG Hon. Bukola Olopade pays tribute to late Nigerian Football Legend Christian Chukwu The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigerian football icon, Christian ā€œChairmanā€ Chukwu, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the nation. Chukwu, aged 74, passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness. Widely revered in Nigerian football history, Chukwu captained the Super Eagles to their historic first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 1980 and later served as the teamā€™s head coach. In an official statement released by the NSC, Hon. Olopade hailed the late footballer as ā€œa true icon, a leader of men, and a national hero.ā€ ā€œChristian Chukwu was not just a footballer; he was a symbol of pride, discipline, and excellence,ā€ Olopade said. ā€œHis leadership on and off the field inspired generations, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of millions of Nigeria.

44 contact-persons test negative, 2 results awaited, Deputy Governor reveals
... Bornoā€™s confirmed cases now 4
Of the 104 persons believed to have had contacts with Bornoā€™s Covid-19 index case, 48 persons have been tested and of them, 44 persons have tested negative to coronavirus while two persons tested positive and two results are being expected.
The stateā€™s deputy governor who serves as chairman of the high powered response team, Umar Kadafur has revealed.
He said the two postive cases were those already announced from an update released by the National centre for Disease Control, NCDC on Monday night.
The deputy governor gave the update at the first in series of daily media briefings by his team, which held at the multipurpose hall of the government house on Tuesday afternoon.
Kadafur told journalists that Borno has four cases as at Tuesday evening which combines the index case, two persons who had contacts with him and a citizen of Borno state who tested positive in Gombe after he came in from Lagos. The citizen has been moved from Biu to an isolation centre in Maiduguri and he is being monitored.
He said the patient is currently being managed by his response team in Borno state.
The stateā€™s commissioner of health, Dr Kwayabura explained that a competent team is in Pulka where an index case emanated, carrying out different measures.
He assured that the stateā€™s response team was in control of the situation.
Commissioner for Home affairs, information and Culture, Babakura Abba Jato assured the public that the response team will be providing daily updates to keep everyone informed.More photos below.
