 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has condoled his Adamawa State counterpart, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri over the loss of his mother.

Governor Matawalle said he received the news of Hajiya Fatima Ahmadu Badami's death with great shock, but said the Will of Allah always suffice.

He described the deceased as an astitute mother who gave his college all the good qualities of a responsible human being and a great leader.

"Indeed, we love our mother very much, but Allah loves her most and has taken her away especially in this very sacred and bountiful month of Ramadan", Governor Matawalle observed.

He called on his colleague to bear the pains of this irreparable loss with great courage and feel more comfortable that she has returned to her Lord as a fulfilled mother. "Only Allah can reward her for her efforts in bringing you up to this level in your life", Governor Matawalle advised.
"On behalf of myself, my family  the Government and the good people of Zamfara State, I convey to you our heartfelt condolence. May Allah reward her with the highest abode in jannatil fil daus", Governor Matawalle prayed.

Hajiya Fatima died this morning in Yola at the age of 68 after a protracted illness.
