 SGBV: LAGOS DSVA TAKES ADVOCACY TO IKEJA RESIDENTS' DOORSTEPS The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) Community Engagement team has spearheaded an impactful door-to-door sensitization campaign across the Ikeja Local Government Area recently. The initiative aims to significantly raise awareness about the critical issues of sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and cultivate a strong culture of zero tolerance within the community. The Onilekere Community Development Association (CDA) played a vital role in the campaign's success. Community leaders actively participated, receiving comprehensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and thorough briefings on the multifaceted nature of SGBV and the established effective reporting mechanisms. A special meeting of the Bankers’ Committee was convened on May 2, 2020, to further review the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Nigerian banking industry. The Committee particularly deliberated on the issue of the operating costs of banks in view of the disruptions emanating from the global economic difficulties and decided as follows:
1. In order to help minimize and mitigate the negative impact of the COVID19 pandemic on families and livelihoods, no bank in Nigeria shall retrench or lay-off any staff of any cadre (including full-time and part-time).
2. To give effect to the above measure, the express approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria shall be required in the event that it becomes absolutely necessary to lay-off any such staff.
The Central Bank of Nigeria solicits the support of all in our collective effort to weather through the economic challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
