 FG Reaffirms Commitment To End Malaria, Strengthens Domestic Health Financing The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says the Federal Government is determined to eliminate malaria and strengthen domestic financing for healthcare to reduce Nigeria's dependence on external donors.  He stated this while receiving the Board of Trustees of Malaria Consortium on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Abuja.  The delegation visited to congratulate Nigeria on reducing malaria parasite prevalence among children aged six to 59 months from 42 percent in 2010 to 15 percent in 2025, appreciate the government's partnership with Malaria Consortium, and introduce its new board members.      The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Health, has debunked the reports making the rounds suggesting that the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has tested positive to COVID-19, describing the news as absolute falsehood, fabricated by mischief makers.
A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Tunbosun Ogunbanwo urged the public to disregard the information in its entirety, saying the authors are out to create unnecessary panic and fear amongst the populace.
Ogunbanwo affirmed that Professor Abayomi is hale, hearty and in good health, as he diligently continues to discharge his responsibilities as the Deputy Incident Commander of the COVID19Lagos Intervention Team constituted to battle the deadly virus in Lagos.
The statement implored citizens to desist from disseminating fake news and implored those who seek and share information to rely only on the official and verified communication channels - @followlasg and @LSMOH for COVID19Lagos news.
