 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.      The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Health, has debunked the reports making the rounds suggesting that the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has tested positive to COVID-19, describing the news as absolute falsehood, fabricated by mischief makers.
A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Tunbosun Ogunbanwo urged the public to disregard the information in its entirety, saying the authors are out to create unnecessary panic and fear amongst the populace.
Ogunbanwo affirmed that Professor Abayomi is hale, hearty and in good health, as he diligently continues to discharge his responsibilities as the Deputy Incident Commander of the COVID19Lagos Intervention Team constituted to battle the deadly virus in Lagos.
The statement implored citizens to desist from disseminating fake news and implored those who seek and share information to rely only on the official and verified communication channels - @followlasg and @LSMOH for COVID19Lagos news.
