In a blog post that has now been published by many international media organisations, in an apparent well-coordinated public relations effort, Binance Chief Executive Officer Richard Teng made false allegations of bribery against unidentified Nigerian government officials who he claimed demanded $150m in cryptocurrency payments to resolve the ongoing criminal investigation against the company.  This claim by Binance CEO lacks any iota of substance.      The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Health, has debunked the reports making the rounds suggesting that the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has tested positive to COVID-19, describing the news as absolute falsehood, fabricated by mischief makers.
A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Tunbosun Ogunbanwo urged the public to disregard the information in its entirety, saying the authors are out to create unnecessary panic and fear amongst the populace.
Ogunbanwo affirmed that Professor Abayomi is hale, hearty and in good health, as he diligently continues to discharge his responsibilities as the Deputy Incident Commander of the COVID19Lagos Intervention Team constituted to battle the deadly virus in Lagos.
The statement implored citizens to desist from disseminating fake news and implored those who seek and share information to rely only on the official and verified communication channels - @followlasg and @LSMOH for COVID19Lagos news.
