 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.      On 09/05/2020, the Assistant Commissioner of Police incharge of Operations Anambra State Police Command *ACP David Iloyanomon* paid a routine visit to JTF deployed to Omor and Umumbo communities where Communal crisis occured recently.The ACP conveyed the massage of the Commissioner of Police *CP John B.Abang,fdc* to the officers and men and lectured them to be professional in their conduct and maintain high level of discipline. He also boosted their Morale and left them in high spirit.
Consequently,the officer equally addressed the youths and vigilante members of the two communities involved in the recent conflict following a rumour of renewed clash being pedled by mischief makers which was discovered to be false.He admonished the people to maintain peace and adhere to the resolution reached by Ayamelum Leaders of thought to lay down their arms, embrace peace,and allow free passage to their opponents to access their farm lands without hindrance or molestation.
Meanwhile,the Area is relatively calm and normalcy restored.Joint patrol still ongoing in order to avert any further breakdown of law and order in the Area please.
