OBI ATTRIBUTES STAMPEDE TRAGEDIES IN OYO, FCT, AND ANAMBRA TO HUNGER AND SYSTEMIC ISSUES. (PHOTO).

 Peter Obi has blamed hunger and systemic failures for the recent spate of stampedes across the country.  Scores of persons were dead, and many others wounded in the tragic incidents in Ibadan, Oyo State; Okija in Anambra and another one in the nation’s capital of Abuja. The stampedes happened in a space of five days with the last two occurring on Saturday morning during food distribution campaigns. Obi, who was the Labour Party (LP)’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, said the incidents underline the rising hunger in the country which has led to desperation. “I am deeply saddened and distressed by the tragic loss of lives in desperate searches for food,” Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, wrote in a post on his X account Saturday afternoon. “While I will not cast blame but instead appreciate the organizers of these respective events for their kind gestures in providing palliatives and support to society, especially the poor, these tragedies reflect the...

      Alhaji Aliyu Bako Maigida, the Makongijin Kwandare, Nasarawa State and the Sergeant At- Arms of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly is dead,
Bako Maigida was also before his death a Per time Member, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission.
He died today (Sunday) at Comprehensive Primary Healthcare kwandare, Lafia after a brief illness,,though a family source said he has been battling with prolonged diabetes.
He died at the age of Sixty Nine(69).
The speaker of the House, Rt.Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi described death of the the sergeant At- arms as painful and colossal.
A statement by press Secretary to the Speaker Jibrin Gwamna reads "on behalf of the principal officers, members and staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the speaker of the house condole with the family of the late sergeant At- Arms and Kwandere emirate council over the death of our dedicated and committed sergeant At- arms who is the Makongiji Kwandare"
" He was a committed staff and has contributed his quota to the development of the state assembly and the state at large while alive.
" His death is painful but God gives life and take at his own will.
" May his soul and the souls of other departed rest in peace, " the statement quotes the Speaker as saying.
The statement urged the family,associates and Kwandare Emirate Council to see his death as an act of God and prayed Allah to forgive his shortcomings.
