 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. POLICE OPERATIVES BURST A TRICYCLE ( KEKE) SNATCHING SYNDICATE IN OBA,IDEMILI SOUTH LGA OF ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.


       *Arrested two suspects and recovers one Tricycle allegedly snatched from a victim after pouring a pepperish substance on his face*
On the 26/5/2020, around 7:55am, at Umuogali Oba along Onitsha/Owerri road, two suspected members of tricycle snatching syndicate who specializes in snatching tricycle popularly called KEKE were arrested by Police patrol team attached to Oba Division in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.
The suspects namely IKENNA IBEMESI "m" aged 28 years of Ogbunike town and CHUKWUDI OFFORBUIKE 'm' aged 35 years of Nkwere Ogidi allegedly poured a pepperish substance on the face of the tricycle rider one Joseph Asogwa 'm' of No.31 Iro-Okoye Street Obosi and snatched his tricycle with Reg. No NKK 744 QY.
Meanwhile,victim quickly raised alarm which attracted the attention of police patrol team who quickly responded and arrested the suspects.The snatched tricycle was also recovered in their possession and registered as exhibit.Case under investigation after which suspects would be brought to justice.
Consequently,the Commissioner of Police *CP John B.Abang,fdc* urges keke/motorcycle riders in the State to be wary of such syndicates especially at the early or late hours in order not to fall victims in the hands of the hoodlums please.
