 VANDAL CRUSHED TO DEATH UNDER COLLAPSED TRANSMISSION TOWER IN DELTA STATE A suspected vandal has been crushed to death under a collapsed vandalised  transmission tower along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State. The incident was discovered during a line patrol carried out by the Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), following the tripping of the line on earth fault on the Ughelli - Benin 330kV Transmission line. A statement by the TCN indicates that the patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed. The body of the suspected vandal was found crushed between the tower members. Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli - Sapele 330kV  transmission line had also been vandalized.

Political Office Holders To Receive Half Salary In Kano
Due to shortfall in the federation account and collapse in the internally generated revenue (IGR) because of COVID-19 challenges, all political office holders in Kano state are to receive half salary with immediate effect from this Month of May.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje lamented that "Due to shortfall of the price of Oil in the global market which affects world economy and eventually causes serious shortfall in the federation account for states, the state slashes the salary of all political office holders by 50 percent."
Adding that, "There is also a serious set back in the IGR, due to COVID-19 pandemic challenges. Whereas almost all companies in the state are no longer in operation due to lockdown. So also other areas where the state gets revenue, are no longer operational. This also is another reason for giving political office holders half salary."
This includes the Governor and his Deputy, all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants among others. At the local government level those affected are Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen, Elected Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, Advisers and Secretaries of Local Governments.
