  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.      In order to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown on members of the Lagos Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Lagos State Sports Commission on Friday distributed packages, comprising of 5kg Rice, 5kg Beans, One-litre Groundnut Oil and Hand Sanitisers to 250 of its members
Mr. Moses Kolawole, Director, Sports Development, who made the presentation on behalf of the Management of the Commission, stated that the gesture is to support the Sports Writers in Lagos, being stakeholders in games development in the State.
"What we are doing today is to support one of our very important stakeholders in our own little way during this pandemic. It is small but we are very sure that it would go a long way to assist members of the Sports Writers Association during this difficult time", he added.
Responding, Debo Osundun, Chairman (SWAN), appreciated the kind gesture of the Management of the Lagos State Sports Commission for remembering the association, adding that Government, through the Commission, has always been there for Lagos SWAN.
He further stated that members of Lagos State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria will continue to render necessary support to the State Sports Commission, through adequate publicity of its programmes, events and activities.
"We are very thankful to the Management of Lagos State Sports Commission for recognising our members during this pandemic period and we are very proud to be associated with the Lagos State Government", Osundun said.More photos below.
