  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. We made him governor because Oshiomhole persuaded us.      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, arraigned one Rahul Pathania, an Indian, and a vessel, M.V. Bount, before Justice Rilwan .M. Aikawa of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on three-count charges bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum products.

The defendant was arrested alongside the vessel by the Nigerian Navy and subsequently handed over to to the Commission for prosecution.

One of the count read: “That you, M.V.Bount and Rahul Pathania, on the 31st day of January 2020, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired among yourselves to commit an offence to wit: dealing in 45 metric tons of petroleum product without appropriate licence and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and punishable under Section 1(7) of the same Act.”.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
