 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.       Social media enthusiasts have been praising a Nigerian man named Chidiebere Ogbonna who bought a carton of Indomie noodles and later found cash worth of 1.8million naira and returned it to the Indomie Vendor.
According to reports sighted on social media, narrating his side of the story, Chidiebere said he got home, opened the carton, and when he saw what was inside, he immediately returned it.
This act is what was displayed by a Nigerian man with tags Nigerians are facing amidst Nigerian Hushpuppi’s massive criminal agenda.
Moreover, upon Chidiebere returning the carton full of money, with such great joy, the shop owner promised to supply Chidiebere cartoon of Indomie noodles for the next six months.
According to reports, Mr. Chidiebere Ogbonna is not rich or wealthy, but he must be a Christian and have the fear of God in order to do this.
Chidiebere also disclosed that, even though he is not rich, the money he found in the carton was not his and so he would not keep what is not his.
Many people have reacted by claiming what he did was very childish and stupid whereas others also praised him for his benevolent act.

  1. Good name is better than silver and gold. He is a man of integrity which has paid of for him. Before now he was unknown but today this singular act, the fear of God and self discipline has brought fame to him. A lesson for all of us.
