OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. POLICE UNCOVER ANOTHER TRICK OF STEALING VEHICLES FROM UNSUSPECTING MOTOR DEALERS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      *Caution the public against falling victims*
The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the public that a syndicate has devised new trick of stealing vehicles from motor dealers under false pretense of buying the vehicles.
They approach Car stands under false pretense of testing the vehicles and as soon as the ignition key is released to them by oblivious owners, they will zoom off and escape with the Car.
A case under reference was on the 15/6/2020 at about 12:30pm,a Car dealer based at Agu Awka reported at B' Division Awka that a man whose identity is not yet known came to his car stand to test an unregistered Ash coloured Toyota Corolla Car,model 2006 valued Two Million Naira (#2,000,000) with a pretence of buying the Car, but when he was handed over the ignition key,the suspect zoomed off on top speed with the vehicle and all original document inside the vehicle's compartment.
Meanwhile,efforts are being intensified to recover the stolen Car and get the culprit arrested.
In view of the foregoing,the Command is making a clarion call to members of the public particularly Car dealers to be wary of such syndicate and this new pattern of crime in order not to fall victims.
