 Popular Awka MC And Comedian Aiza Nwosu Shot Dead Popular Awka-born master of ceremonies, comedian and griot, Aiza Nwosu, was reportedly shot dead today, Sunday, 30th August 2026, in Awka, Anambra State. Unconfirmed reports circulating online allege that his killing may be connected to a lingering land-related dispute. This remains unverified, however, and it is now left for the relevant security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The tragic news has shocked many, particularly within Awka and the entertainment community. It also raises renewed concerns about violent killings in Awka and the urgent need to address insecurity in the area. Aiza had been active in the entertainment industry for many years and was a friend and colleague to many. He was also known for mentoring younger entertainers and contributing to the growth of the local entertainment scene. SENATE COMMITTEE ON ARMY PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NIGERIAN ARMY UNIVERSITY BIU HELD ON 16,JUNE 2020.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Senate Committee on Army held a public hearing to consider the bill for the establishment of Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) Borno State.
Making a presentation at the occasion, the COAS, Lt Gen TY Buratai thanked members of the Senate Committee on Army for their contributions, unwavering interest and support in passing the bill for the establishment of NAUB. He stated that the establishment of the university would surely address the critical need for education in different specialized fields.
NAUB is equally positioned to provide necessary academic programmes to counter negative narratives and ideology of the terrorists. It is one of the Nigerian Army's major efforts in the pursuit of winning the hearts and minds of the society and a remarkable milestone in promoting excellent Civil-Military relations.
The COAS made it very clear that "every eligible Nigerian, irrespective of geographical area, ethnic group or religion has equal opportunity to pursue academic learning in the university".
He expressed gratitude to the President and Commander -in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari for giving the approval to establish the university in the year 2018.
The NAUB which is located in Biu LGA of Borno State has since been running courses in different academic fields. It is gradually becoming a citadel of learning and emerging Centre for academic and intellectual excellence.
The public hearing witnessed the participation of relevant stakeholders from National University Commission, Federal Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defence, Civil Society Organizations and the University Council among others.More photos  below.
