 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower.      The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, CON has tasked Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) on the need to promote a stronger working relationship with the Ministry.
The Minister gave the charge on Wednesday in his office during a brief inauguration ceremony for the new Managing Director, according to a Press Statement signed by his Media Assistant, Mr. Julius Toba-Jegede.
Also at the inauguration were the Minister of State, Ambassador Yalwaji Mariam Katagum, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, mni and senior Directors of the Ministry and NEPZA.
Adebayo said that ''As one of the agencies under the supervision of his ministry, NEPZA should work within our guidelines and ensure an improved harmonious relationship with the ministry.
''At the end of the day, whatever is the success of NEPZA is equally the success of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and success of all Nigerians as a whole.
"As a Ministry, we will keep our eyes on all the agencies under us to ensure that there is industrial harmony, that the goals and objectives of President Muhammadu Buhari Administration are achieved.
''I trust you will not disappoint Mr. President who approved your appointment, and I hope you will not disappoint us at the Ministry.
''The Federal Government wants to make NEPZA a major revenue generating agency for the Nation, and we want you to use your new appointment to help us achieve that target,''
The newly appointed Managing Director, in his remark thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Otunba Adebayo for finding him capable of heading the agency.
While assuring them of his readiness to meet their expectations and work with the ministry, he also promised to support the expansion drive of the nation's non-oil revenue under the current administration.
Adesugba however called for the cooperation of the staff of the agency and other stakeholders to ensure that his four-year tenure is successful.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, the former Acting Managing Director, Mr. Bitrus Dawuk assured the Minister and his successor that all the staff of NEPZA would offer all the necessary support to advance the cause of the agency and its core mandate.
