 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.     Shagah's emergence followed his election by eight out of 10 kingmakers and subsequent approval by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, according to spokesperson for the kingdom, Timawus Mathias.
Dr Daniel Ismaila Shagah has emerged as the new king of Bachama Kingdom in Adamawa State.
Shagah's emergence followed his election by eight out of 10 kingmakers and subsequent approval by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, according to spokesperson for the kingdom, Timawus Mathias.
The new monarch had served and retired as Director of Finance and Administration of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
His appointment comes after the demise of the 28th king, Honest Irmiya Stephen, who died last month.
A statement from Governor Fintiri's spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou, on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment of Shagah as the new ruler of Bachama.
He said, "Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the appointment of Dr Daniel Ismaila Shagah as the new Hama Bachama following the demise of Honest Irmiya Stephen the 28th ruler of the Bachama Kingdom who died last month.
"As a trained narcotics officer and technocrat, I have no doubt in his capacity to lead his people right.
"The governor urged him to bring to bear on his community and the state his wealth of experience at a time that the state is passing through challenges of growth and development.".

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
