  “Not all Kutis use narcotics” — Afrobeat singer Made Kuti addresses family misconception Afrobeat singer, Made Kuti, has dismissed the misconception that all members of the Kuti family use narcotics.  Speaking with TheCable on the sidelines of the United States mission’s 250th Independence Day celebration in Lagos, the singer said many people wrongly assume he and his relatives use drugs. “A lot of people think I smoke, but I don’t, and even my dad has quit. So, there is a big misconception that the family are all into narcotics, but most of us are not,” he said. When asked to describe himself in three words, Made chose “hardworking, loyal and passionate,” adding with a joke that “loyal” fits because “I’m a married man”. When asked which Nigerian artiste he currently listens to, Made named his grandfather.

    President Muhammadu Buhari felicitates with former Minister of Police Affairs, Maj. Gen. David Jemibewon (rtd), on his 80th birthday, July 20, 2020, joining family members and associates to celebrate with the former military officer, who played many pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s history, both in the private and public sectors.
President Buhari extols Maj. Gen. Jemibewon for services to the nation, as a former Governor of the defunct Western State, and later Oyo State, and taking up strategic positions in the Nigerian Army as General Officer Commanding First Infantry Division and as Adjutant General.
As a former Minister of Police Affairs, the President affirms that the reforms instituted by the former governor strengthened the Nigeria Police Force for better service, especially the setting up of the Police Service Commission, and initiating a process for the expansion of the security agency with more officers, and modelling of some global best practices in operations.
President believes Maj. Gen. Jemibewon’s interest in the country continued to soar after retirement as he contributed to the process of returning the country to democratic governance, and has consistently played an active role in advocating good governance and development that directly impact on the people.
The President prays that the Almighty God will continue to bless the former governor with good health and strength to keep serving the nation.
