 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.     The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Governor Bello Matawale has declared total faith in the ability and capacity of the nigerian army, to protect the territorial geography and people of Nigeria.


The Governor gave this assurance after he visited the Special Army Super Camp 4 Faskari in Katsina State, where he was a special guest of honour at the command post for 'Exercise Sahel Sanity.'


What I witnessed here is a testimony to the capacity of the leadership of @HQNigerianArmy to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty." The digital savvy Governor, wrote on his Twitter handle.


Governor Bello Matawale was given the honour of inspecting a special guards of honour parade and he added that he is indeed delighted.


Governor Bello Matawalle Maradun wrote that he made the visit to the camp in Katsina states in orderoto motivate the Nigerian army troop, currently battling the Boko Haram insurgency in North East Nigeria.More photos below.
