 North to Decide 2027 Presidential Election in Six Months, Says Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has declared that the northern region will determine its stance on the 2027 presidential election within the next six months. Speaking in a Hausa-language interview alongside Professor Usman Yusuf, former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Baba-Ahmed emphasized the North’s pivotal role in Nigerian politics, stating, “No one becomes Nigeria’s president without the North.” Baba-Ahmed asserted that the region is seeking a government capable of addressing its pressing challenges.       I briefed an extraordinary session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government this afternoon on the outcome of our recent engagements with the military rulers who are now in charge of affairs in the Republic of Mali.

I am pleased that our mediation, buoyed by the determination of ECOWAS leaders to act decisively to achieve the restoration of constitutional order in Mali is already bearing fruits, following the release of ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta. -GEJ.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
