 Supreme court ruling path to Labour Party's peace and unity - Otti Abia State Governor Alex Otti has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to remove Julius Abure as National Chairman of the Labour Party. According to Governor Otti, this ruling will usher in a new era of peace, unity, and order within the party. The Governor believes the Supreme Court's judgment vindicates the party's leadership, particularly since Abure's National Working Committee tenure had long expired. This led to the establishment of a National Caretaker Committee, headed by Esther Nenadi Usman and Darlington Nwokocha, with a vision to foster peace and unity while strengthening the party. The Supreme Court's decision is seen as a step towards restoring peace and unity within the Labour Party, validating the party's leadership and the decision to set up a caretaker committee. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Police Command, have re-arrested the notorious murder suspect, Sunday Shodipe who escaped from lawful custody on 11th August, 2020. He was re-arrested today, Sunday, 23rd August, 2020 by Police operatives at the Bodija area of Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

It would be recalled that the erstwhile fugitive is a prime suspect in multiple murder of innocent citizens at Akinyele Local Government Area, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM,mni while commending the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu and his Team for a job well done, equally expressed his sincere appreciation to the citizens for their support and understanding while the manhunt for the rearrested Shodipe lasted.

Meanwhile, the IGP has warned against any form of complacency on the part of the operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, stressing that all hands must be on deck to bring the case to a positive and successful closure.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
