 Peter Obi Demands Justice for 15-Year-Old Held Without Trial for Over Three Months Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, has called for justice in the case of 15-year-old Yusuf Alabi, who has been detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for over three months without trial. Alabi, who captured national attention in 2023 after standing boldly in front of Obi’s convoy during a campaign rally in Lagos—an image that went viral as a symbol of youthful hope—remains in custody despite his first court appearance in March. In a statement posted on his official X handle Tuesday night, Obi voiced alarm over the teenager’s prolonged detention and urged authorities to adhere to the rule of law. “I was made aware of the predicament of a young boy named Quadri Yusuf Alabi, who has been detained for over three months without trial, appeared in court for the first time in March, and still remains held in custody,” Obi wrote.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
