  Abakaliki, Ebonyi State - In a shocking move, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the arrest of six commissioners and the suspension of the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Nwachi, over alleged involvement in a breach of contract for the construction of 140 housing units for Izzo and Amaze communities. The affected commissioners, who were declared wanted by the state government before their arrest, are: - Professor Omari Omaka (Tertiary Education) - Victor Chukwu (Environment) - Ifeanyi Ogbuewu (Culture and Tourism) - Uchenna Igwe (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters) - Moses Ekuma (Health) - Felix Igboke (Project Monitoring) According to the Chairman of the State Executive Council Committee on Izzo and Amaze Housing Project, Ilang Donatus, the governor took the action due to the slow pace of work on the project, which was intended to be completed in time for his two-year anniversary in office. PRESIDENT BUHARI CONSOLES BORNO ON LOSS OF TWO EMIRS, CALLS IT DOUBLE TRAGEDY
President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of two Borno Emirs- the Shehu of Bama, Shehu Kyari Ibn Umar El-Kanemi and the Emir of Biu Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu in a rapid succession as a “rare double tragedy,” and a painful loss to the people of Nigeria.
In separate letters of condolence delivered to Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Shehu Abubakar Ibn-Umar Garbai El-Kanemi by a government delegation led by Malam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, President Buhari said “such a rare tragedy is especially painful for the people of Borno and Nigeria at large.”
In the letters, President Buhari noted that “their contributions to keeping the peace and stability in their respective Emirates especially in the wake of recent years of violence and disturbances caused by Boko Haram have been appreciated by the government and people of Nigeria. Their exemplary leadership in the face of adversity is worthy of emulation by their successors.”
The leader of the delegation commended Governor Babagana Zulum for doing so much in the face of personal danger to make peace and safety of his people his number one agenda.
The Governor urged the delegation, which included two ministers of state, Mustapha Shehuri, Agriculture and rural development and Engineer Abubakar Aliyu, Works and Housing as well as Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, to convey the gratitude and appreciation of the government and people of Borno State to President Buhari for his love, respect and caring attitude towards the state and its people.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
