Kim Kardashian Was Warned That Meeting Donald Trump Could End Her Career, But Her Response Was Unexpected!
Kim Kardashian wasn't willing to let public opinion stop her from fighting for people behind bars.
According to revelations in the new book Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future by Jonathan Van Meter, Kim faced serious warnings from people around her when she planned to visit the White House to meet President Donald Trump and advocate for prisoners.
At the time, some people reportedly told her that meeting Trump could ruin her reputation and end her career. But Kim wasn't interested in protecting her image at the expense of someone else's freedom.
She reportedly responded: "It's my reputation over someone's life? Weigh that out."
Her efforts eventually helped Alice Marie Johnson, a woman who had spent 22 years in prison for a nonviolent drug offence, receive clemency from Trump in 2018.
The book also reveals another interesting moment from Kim's meeting with Trump. While advocating for a seriously ill man serving a life sentence for a nonviolent crime, Kim reportedly challenged the president to help him.
According to attorney Van Jones, who accompanied her, Kim had memorised the man's case and knew the details. He was particularly impressed by how confidently she presented her argument to Trump.
Beyond her reality TV fame and business empire, Kim's prison reform work has become an important part of her public life.
