Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday. FOREVER IN OUR MEMORIES
As the Nation commemorates the Year 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Nigerian Air Force solemnly and respectfully reminisces over the great sacrifices made by our Serving, Retired and Fallen Heroes, for the enduring peace and security of a united and prosperous Nigeria
Since the establishment of the Nigerian Air Force in 1964, thousands of brave Nigerians have voluntarily joined its ranks to make vital contributions towards the fulfilment of the constitutional responsibility of the Service in defending the territorial integrity of the Nation by air. Although from different tribes and regions, they all have one goal – to secure Nigeria and keep its people safe, so that they can pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear. This is the common bond, which unites them in the pursuit of Freedom, Peace and Unity, fuelled by Patriotism. This is the reason why they remain Willing, Able, Ready, to pay the ultimate price, which some have indeed paid, in service to Our Fatherland. We remember them, today and always.

Our gallant officers, airmen and airwomen have fought and continue to fight, to defeat all enemies of our Nation and rid it of all criminal elements. They operate at all hours, in difficult weather conditions and challenging terrains, serving with courage, loyalty and dedication. They are the brave few who continually achieve the impossible, laying their all on the line, for the protection of the many. They train hard in peacetime in order to be effective in war. They do this to ensure that the sweat of training ultimately diminishes the bloodshed of battle.
Nevertheless, in the course of discharging their constitutional roles, some of our gallant personnel did not return home. Many of those who did return came back injured and scarred, but carrying the banner of victory, fulfilled that they had given their utmost in service to their Fatherland.
On this special day, we remember the labours of these Heroes - living and dead, past and present. We salute and honour their contributions in ensuring a strong and virile Nation that is the Pride of Africa.
We celebrate those that fought gallantly.
We laud the Fallen and the Wounded Heroes.
We appreciate their selfless sacrifices as well as the resilience of their loved ones who stood by them in life and continue to honour their memories by holding the home-front in their death.
Their loyalty and sacrifices have anchored the Nation together, thereby making great achievements possible and keeping alive the promise of a greater future for Nigeria.
We say a big thank you to all our Serving, Retired and Fallen Heroes.
We remember them today and always.
They will remain…Forever in Our Memories.
