 CONMEBOL Proposes 64-Team Expansion for 2030 World Cup CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez has proposed expanding the 2030 FIFA World Cup to 64 teams, highlighting the tournament’s centennial significance. Speaking at CONMEBOL’s 80th Ordinary Congress, Dominguez said the expanded format would honor the 100-year anniversary of the World Cup, which will be hosted across six countries on three continents: Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. The 2026 edition will already see an increase from 32 to 48 teams.

POLICE OPERATIVES NAB TWO ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN UMUERI.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

In continuation with it's efforts to stem the tide of crime and other nefarious activities in the State, police operatives attached to Otoucha Division in conjuction with local community vigilante had on the 22/1/2021 at about 9:10pm arrested two robbery suspects at Umueri as follows,
(i).Anthony Okeke 'm' aged 29years and,
(ii).Chijioke Eljiaja 'm' aged 23yeats both of Umueri in Anambra East LGA of Anambra State following intelligence report.
Suspects are habitual offenders allegedly terrorizing the community shortly after their release from correctional centre two months ago. Exhibit recovered in their possessions includes one locally made revolver pistol and Six cartridges.They will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
Meanwhile,the Command reassure the public that it will continue to protect their lives and properties against criminals until they repent or relocate from the State.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
