 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. PDP Congratulates Wike on Award of Silverbird Extraordinary Man of the Year
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulates Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, on his conferment with the coveted Silverbird Extraordinary Personality of the Year Award.
The party describes the award as well-deserving, given Governor Wike's extraordinary performance in governance, particularly his unprecedented massive infrastructural development in his state as well as the empowerment of the people, in line with the manifesto of our great party, the PDP.
Governor Wike has continued to distinguished himself as an excellent administrator as local government chairman, chief of staff of Rivers State, minister of the Federal Republic and now as governor of Rivers state, where his performance has earned him the sobriquet of "Mr. Project".
Moreover, Governor Wike's assertions on national issues, in addition to his nationalist gestures, stand him out as a patriot and one of the leading lights of our nation at this critical time.
The PDP celebrates Governor Wike on this honor of Silverbird Man of the Year and urges him to continue in his selfless service for which he is recognized and acclaimed.
