 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. PDP Congratulates Wike on Award of Silverbird Extraordinary Man of the Year
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulates Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, on his conferment with the coveted Silverbird Extraordinary Personality of the Year Award.
The party describes the award as well-deserving, given Governor Wike's extraordinary performance in governance, particularly his unprecedented massive infrastructural development in his state as well as the empowerment of the people, in line with the manifesto of our great party, the PDP.
Governor Wike has continued to distinguished himself as an excellent administrator as local government chairman, chief of staff of Rivers State, minister of the Federal Republic and now as governor of Rivers state, where his performance has earned him the sobriquet of "Mr. Project".
Moreover, Governor Wike's assertions on national issues, in addition to his nationalist gestures, stand him out as a patriot and one of the leading lights of our nation at this critical time.
The PDP celebrates Governor Wike on this honor of Silverbird Man of the Year and urges him to continue in his selfless service for which he is recognized and acclaimed.
