 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident. Our enforcement teams are led by seasoned, well-trained, and highly disciplined senior officers who are far too professional and educated to jeopardise their ranks, integrity, and years of service for personal gain. The Anambra State Police Command wishes to assure all "Ndi Anambra" and residents alike that this year's Easter period , like the previous ones would be celebrated peacefully.
2. The Command has prepared an elaborate operations order which effectively covers all places of worships, recreation centres ,public buildings, flashpoints,black spots and other vulnerable areas in order to ensure adequate protection of life and properties in the State. Individuals or groups desiring and planning to truncate this noble intention are warned to desist forthwith as any breach of the public peace will attract full wrath of the law.
3. Consequently,the Commissioner of Police CP Monday Bala Kuryas,fsi while wishing all Christians a happy and peaceful Easter celebration also enjoined them to use the period and pray for sustainable peace in the State and Nation at large.
4. Finally, the Public is assured of our commitment to ensure Safety and Security before, during and after the Easter period.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
