 African Airlines record 5.7% decreased demand for air cargo in February — IATA African airlines recorded a 5.7% year-on-year decline in air cargo demand in February 2025, with capacity decreasing by 0.6% in the same period. Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), dropped by 0.4%, although international operations saw a 1.1% increase. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) report showed that global capacity decreased by 0.4%, with international operations showing a slight increase of 0.4% in demand. Globally, air cargo demand fell by 0.1% compared to February 2024, marking the first decline since mid-2023. “African airlines saw a 5.7% year-on-year decrease in demand for air cargo in February. Capacity decreased by 0.6% year-on-year,” the report read in part. In the spirit of the International Women’s Day, the Senate, today resolved to amend the Nigerian Constitution to ensure gender parity, enact laws to improve the fortunes of women and girls and expunge provisions of the law that infringes on their rights.
This would be done through the amendment of the 1999 constitution which is currently undergoing review by the committee chaired by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senate Ovie Omo-Agege.
The provision of equal opportunities for women would on the long run be in the interest of Nigeria as a nation.
I believe we are together in this with our women. It is in the interest of our nation that we work together to give our women proper opportunities for them to excel.
And we must congratulate those who have achieved so much in public life here as well as in business.
We congratulate Nigerian women, we congratulate the entire nation, and we believe that we have to do more to give our women more opportunities to serve.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
