 Aguleri–Umuoba Anam Crisis: Bishop Ekwe Urges Calm, Dialogue, Peaceful Resolution ‎ ‎By Nneka Ejeckam ‎ ‎The Bishop of the Diocese of Niger West, Anglican Communion, The Rt. Rev. Johnson N. Ekwe, has on October 2, called for calm and peaceful resolution following the reported crisis arising from a boundary dispute between Amaeze Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities. ‎ ‎In a statement, Bishop Ekwe expressed sadness over the reported developments, including alleged casualties and destruction of property. He commiserated with affected families, prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and offered prayers for those who suffered losses. ‎ ‎The Bishop appealed to residents of both communities to remain calm, exercise restraint and avoid any further acts of violence or reprisal. Governor Willie Obiano has called on stakeholders in the state to make calls for stoppage of all forms of aggression against the police and other security agencies in the state.
Governor Obiano made the call during a statewide broadcast on the successful rescue and release of the abducted Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne.
Recall that the release by the Anambra State Police Command confirmed the safety of the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne who was released today, 4th April 2021.
He was abducted following the attack at Isuofia Civic Center that led to the murder of three (3) Police Officers by some hoodlums, while five suspects in connection with the incident were arrested.
According to the Governor, immediately after the unfortunate incident, the state security architecture swung into action, stressing that no ransome was demanded or given before his release.
While commiserating with the families of the slain officers, the Governor condemned the attack, pointing out that the aftermath of the ENDSARS protest is still very fresh in the mind and will not be allowed to repeat itself.
Governor Obiano who assured that the state is on steady rise to greatness, appreciated the security operatives, urging them to continue discharging their duty professionally.
The Governor concluded by wishing ndi Anambra a happy Easter, calling for a reflection of the message of the season on the lives of ndi Anambra.
