 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ANAMBRA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTER: GOV. OBIANO TARGETS JULY FOR COMPLETIO.{PHOTOS}.

Governor Willie Obiano has given the contractor handing the International Conference Center in Awka, end of July 2021, to complete the project.
Governor Obiano issued the directive when he embarked on inspection of the project in company of his wife, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano and other dignitaries.
According to the governor who said that the state did not borrow funds to finance the project, he pointed out his satisfaction at the quality of work, coupled with the architectural and engineering design.
He stressed that the only challenge is the pace of work, asking the contractor to pace up.
The Commissioner for Housing, Architect Mike Okonkwo who described it as a multi-purpose edifice, said that the project is already at the finishing stage, as the roof covering is almost completed.
While stating that the COVID-19 challenge put a little hitch on the project at the inception of roofing stage, he explained that the project which sits on a nine hectares land, has minimum of ten thousand sitting capacity, pointing out that one hectare was mapped out for world class hotel, assuring that the project will be delivered before the rains set in.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Willie Nwokoye spoke about the multiplier effect of the project on Anambra economy.
The contractor, Mr Mark Tu who explained and apologised for not meeting the deadline, supposed to be today, assured that they will continue to deliver standard.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor thanked the governor for the laudable project just as the former Governor of the Central Bank and a gubernatorial aspirant under APGA, Professor Charles Soludo said that the governor the project and has shown that governor Obiano has the audacity to dream big and audacity in precision, celebrated the vision of the governor at building to last unborn generations.
Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh, permanent secretaries of various ministries, among others, embarked on the inspection visit.
