Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe inspects the Nigeria's largest maternity and newborn complex he is constructing in Damaturu.
The project has 8 blocks of storey buildings containing the following multiple facilities.
STOREY BUILDING 1: (Gynecology)
32 consultancy rooms for Gynecologists,
6 Waiting areas,
6 Side pharmacy,
4 Rest room.
STOREY BUILDING 2: (Gynae ward)
32 Open cubicles,
5 Call duty room,
5 Side pharmacy,
4 Nurse station.
STOREY BUILDING 3: (Special baby care ward)
28 Septic baby unit,
10 Out-born unit,
10 In-born unit
4 Nurses station,
10 Mother's room,
10 Breastfeeding/dining,
5 Doctor's rest room,
5 Nurses rest room,
5 Matron office,
4 Medical record and documentation,
4 Kitchen and store.
STOREY BUILDING 4: (Labour & Theatre Ward)
4 Theatre space,
2 Recovery room,
6 Recovery ward,
6 Offices,
4 conference rooms,
4 computer rooms.
STOREY BUILDING 5: (Paediatric medical ward)
40 cubicles,
4 call rooms,
4 side pharmacy.
STOREY BUILDING 6: (Emergency paediatric ward)
20 cubicles,
8 offices.
STOREY BUILDING 7: (Obstetric)
32 Open cubicles,

5 Side pharmacy,
4 Nurse station.
STOREY BUILDING: 8 (Isolation centre)
40 isolation room.
Furthermore, the Governor has also pledged to provide qualified healthcare personnel, equipping and furnishing of the complex, provision of medical laboratory and a lecture theatre for medical students and the extension of the owner-occupier housing scheme to medical doctors and other healthcare personnel in the hospital.
The project is located at Yobe state university teaching hospital in Damaturu.
