 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. OPERATION ZENDA UNCOVERS SIX DECOMPOSING CORPSES IN KATSINA-ALA.{PHOTOS}.

Men of Operation Zenda headed by their commander CSP Justine Gberindyer lead his team to Tavachan to uncover another mass grave of victims.
The two suspects, Aondoaseer Terseer alias Bob Tsetse, 23 years and Orkashima David alias Cash - money who is 22 years were arrested in Osun State after both fled following the killings, kidnapping, and armed robbery activities carried out in mbamon, Tavachan, Michiche Council ward of Katsina - Ala LGA of Benue in less than three years.
The two suspects who are secondary school drop - outs are members of a ten-man criminal syndicate who took men of Operation Zenda round to uncover shallow graves, both in dry and abandoned wells where they kept their dead victims to conceal their nefarious acts.
Among the six dead decomposing bodies uncovered so far were three males and three females, in which two of the females were their own wives killed in January and April of 2021.
The bodies of decomposing victims recovered from the dry wells are Hon John Nyitamen, madam Catherine Akiishi and Aondover Fidelix, with another and two of the suspects wives found in a shallow graves.
Both suspects confessed to have killed their wives, one of them, Bob Tsetse, said his wife died following misunderstanding between them after a wood he threw at her pierced her neck mistakenly. The other suspect, revealed that his wife death was instigated by his father after he alleged that his wife was trying to burn his house by calling security agents.
According to him, through the help of his two other gang members they killed her and buried her in a shallow grave.
Reacting, CSP Gberindyer, confirmed the arrest of one of the accomplices, stating that, effort is on to arrest the other and suspect's father who seem to have instigated the act.
The suspects further gave six names of their gang syndicate as Umangu Ihuman, alias Aka, Agwe, alias Banga, Aondover Ihom, alias D'ver, Luper and Yaryon alias Snake, they however stated that four had been killed. The suspects also claimed to be working for "Azonto" a militia and late Gana's second in command responsible for several kidnappings, killings of security agents in Sankera axis.
The Deputy Chairman of Katsina - Ala local government council, Hon Agba Thomas, who witnessed the situation, said justice will now be served for the two notorious criminal elements who have made life unbearable and farming activities impossible as this will bring succor to the families who have long searched for the remains of their loved ones.
Meanwhile, State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, said the two suspects are in their custody and will be prosecuted according to law, pending investigation as the new State Commissioner of Police, Audu Madaki, has vowed all criminal elements who poses threat to lives and property will be fished.
