 UK deports 43 failed asylum seekers, others to Nigeria, Ghana The UK government has deported 43 individuals, including failed asylum seekers and convicted foreign offenders, to Nigeria and Ghana. Among those removed were 15 failed asylum seekers and 11 foreign national offenders who had completed their prison sentences. Seven individuals also chose to leave the country voluntarily. This flight is the second to Nigeria and Ghana since the last election, bringing the total number of deportees to 87. Officials say this reflects the growing partnership between the UK and both West African nations. A report on gov.uk on Friday, said the move was to reinforce its ongoing efforts to tighten border security through international cooperation. The deportation flight, part of the government’s “Plan for Change,” marks another step in restoring discipline to the immigration system by ensuring that immigration laws are enforced and those without the legal right to remain are returned promptly. ...

FINANCIAL AUTONOMY: NIGERIAN GOVERNORS FORUM DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

The Nigerian Governors Forum has been discussing modalities for the implementation of the financial autonomy granted State's Judiciary and the Legislature. 


Adamawa State Governor, Rt.Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Friday joined Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ekiti State Dr Kayode Fayemi, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong and their Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sani Bello at the critical meeting. 


The Adamawa State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Afraimu Jingi and the Commissioner of Finance Dr Ishaya Dabari were among other Attorneys General and Commissioners of Finance from the 36 State's at the meeting. Governor Kayode Fayemi Chair of the forum noted that the decision is in the interest of all the parties involved. 


The meeting deliberated on issues that revolved around financial autonomy for the State's Judiciary and Legislature. 

This follows the executive order 10, 2020 by President Muhammadu Buhari. 


The Federal Government had given a strong warning that refusal could force them to deduct at source by the Accountant General of the Federation and remitted to the two organs.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
