 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS EMMANUEL JIME AS HEAD OF THE NIGERIAN SHIPPING COUNCIL.{PHOTO}.

Buhari appoints Emmanuel Jime as head of the Nigerian Shipping Council


President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Emmanuel Lyambee Jime as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council.


The appointment is for a renewable term of four years.


Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu made the announcement in a statement Thursday night.


Jime, who has a law degree, is expected to use his vast experience in the new position having distinguished himself in various public positions.


The designated person was previously Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA).


Jime was a member of the House of Representatives for two terms. Represented the Makurdi / Guma Federal Constituency of Benue between 2007 and 2015.


Jime was Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly from 1992 to 1993.


The Shippers Council provides a forum for the protection of shippers’ interests in matters affecting the shipment of imports and exports to and from Nigeria.
