 NDLEA destroys largest seizure of 1.6m kilograms illicit drugs seized in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo …Times have changed, we’re fully prepared to hold those who defy the law accountable, Marwa warns barons, traffickers The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has destroyed heaps of illicit drugs weighing about 1.6 million kilograms of assorted illicit substances seized across Lagos, Ogun and Oyo state, in what is till date the largest volume of seizures to be set ablaze at a time in the history of the Agency.  The public destruction of the illicit substances witnessed by representatives of government officials, traditional rulers, clergymen, other security agencies, international partners, NGOs and community leaders, among others, was conducted at an isolated location at Ipara, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun state on Saturday 12th April 2025. EFCC SECURES CONVICTION OF EX-GOMBE LANDS MINISTRY'S STAFF OVER LAND SCAM.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE

The Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on July 5, 2021 secured the conviction of two former staff of Gombe State Ministry of Lands and Survey, Yahaya Umaru Waja and Muhammed Manga, who were sentenced to nine years imprisonment each on four of the five-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and cheating, by Justice Fatima Musa of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe.


The duo used forged land documents to obtain the sum of N340, 000 (Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira Only) from the complainant in the case.


The offence is contrary to Sections 362,366, 320 and punishable under Sections 322, 364 and 322 of the Penal Code.


Upon arraignment today, Waja and Manga pleaded guilty and were subsequently convicted by Court. Justice Musa, however offered them an option of fine of N110, 000 (One Hundred and Ten Thousand) each.


She further ordered the first convict, Yahaya Umaru Waja to pay the sum of N120, 000 (One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira) as restitution to the victim.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
