In its efforts to encourage young entrepreneurs to thrive, Gombe State Government said it will soon construct 27 modern markets across the 11 local governments areas of the state.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Nasiru Aliyu Muhammad when he represented Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, at the opening ceremony of a three day capacity building workshop organized by Kambu International Nigeria Limited in collaboration with the Bank of Industry, themed "Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Nation Building" at the Maidugu Hotel,GRA Gombe.
Aliyu Muhammad said "The workshop came at a time, when the State Government is making deliberate efforts in empowering women and youths through skills acquisition trainings for self reliance, poverty reduction and human capital development for nation building."
The commissioner said in an efforts to support the move, "Inuwa Yahaya led APC administration plans to construct about 27 new modern markets for different variety of products across the eleven local government areas of the state."
He added that the state government's commitments to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and its efforts to establishing an industrial park, make the state ranked first on ease of doing business in the country.
In their respective addresses, the Chief Executive Officer, Kambu International Nigeria Limited Mrs Dabney Shall-Holma, the Executive Director Small and Medium Enterprises Bank of Industry Shekarau Dauda Umar and the Managing Director who doubles as Chief Executive Officer of the bank Olukayode Pitan, who were represented by the Regional Manager Bank of Industry Ahmad Sagir, said the workshop is meant to equip women and youths with appropriate entrepreneurial skills for self reliance and nation building.
In their goodwill messages, the state commissioner for Information and Culture, Julius Ishaya Lepes, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Naomi J.J. Awak, appreciated the organizers for choosing Gombe as host for the workshop, calling on the participants to be serious and use the opportunity to their advantage.
The capacity building workshop will take participants through: financial, legal and regulatory requirements, business visioning, leadership and entrepreneurship skills, financial and accounting records, networking using ICT, marketing and relationship marketing, brand and packaging as well as business plan development and management training.
