 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Governor Samuel Ortom, on behalf of his family, the Government and people of Benue State, congratulates the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse on his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chancellor, University of Benin. 


The Governor describes the appointment as well deserved. He states that the wealth of experience of the Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation as former Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Makurdi and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State, will immensely benefit the University of Benin. 


He appreciates President Buhari for the appointment of the Tor Tiv and expresses the hope that more Benue sons and daughters will be given key appointments at the federal level. 


Governor Ortom wishes His Royal Majesty, Professor Ayatse a successful tenure as the University Chancellor and prays God to bless him with good health and wisdom.
