 PDP postpones NEC meeting as N’Central insists on chair The North Central caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has expressed opposition to the indefinite postponement of its 99th National Executive Committee meeting, which was initially set for November 28. In a statement on Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party, through its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, explained that the 99th National Executive Committee meeting was postponed due to the funeral of Patience Umo Eno, the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State and wife of Governor Umo Eno. It was previously reported by The PUNCH on Tuesday that the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, with the support of former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, had made arrangements to stay in his position. President Muhammadu Buhari has extended warm felicitations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco on the 22nd anniversary of his ascension to the throne. 

The President, on behalf of the people of Nigeria, and of himself, wishes the King good health, and prosperity. The letter below:

 “On the occasion of the 22nd Anniversary of Your Majesty's ascension to the throne, I have the pleasure to express, on behalf of the people of Nigeria and myself, warm congratulations and best wishes for good health and prosperity.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
