 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.  Cyber Fraudster Jailed for $1500 Scam


One Harry Prince Okotie who was on Monday, 23rd August, 2021 arraigned before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for pretending to be Thomas Toud, a Drilling Engineer from South Korea on Facebook, has been sentenced to 6 months in prison.


Okotie  was convicted based on his guilty plea to the one count charge brought against him by the EFCC. The convict used the false identity to obtain the sum of $I, 500 (One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars) from one Richamar, a citizen of the Philippines in the guise of being in a romantic relationship with her.


He was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of fine of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand) Naira. He is also to forfeit the sum of N220,000 (Two Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira), being proceeds of the crime , to the Federal Government.
