OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ON INEC VOTER REGISTRATION AT ANAMBRA WARDS.{PHOTO}.

Public Service Announcement On INEC Voter Registration At Anambra Wards 


This is to inform the public that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin the Continuous Voter Registration exercise at all the 326 Wards in Anambra State beginning from Monday, 30 August 2021. 


The address and location of the registration centre in each wards is published at the 21 LGA offices of INEC. 


The exercise will end on Sunday, 5th September 2021.

 

The continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise is for the following categories of people: 

1. New Registrants (that is, persons that are up to 18 years of age but who have not registered before)

2. Old registrants who have experienced any form of problem with accreditation in the past elections, such as failure to read their card, failed authentication process, fingerprint issues and when a voter has PVC but can’t find his or her name in the electoral Register

3. Old Registrants seeking transfer, collection of cards, correction of personal information etc.

 

The Commission calls on eligible registrants to take advantage of this opportunity to register in order to participate in the November 6, 2021 governorship election. 


Please note that in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, the CVR exercise in Anambra State will be suspended on 6th September 2021.
