 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT NABBED, GUN, AMMUNITION RECOVERED IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command has again demonstrated its avowed commitment to providing robust safety and protection for the good people of Lagos State as a member of a notorious, dare- devil armed robbery gang was arrested in Bode Thomas area, Lagos State at about 2220hrs of 1/9/2021.
The suspect, Olawale Samsudeen, 27, was arrested when he and two other members of the criminal gang attempted to rob a victim in his provisions shop at Eric Moore Close, Off Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas.

The victim, however, raised the alarm which attracted a police anti-crime patrol team on routine patrol in the area. The patrol team in a swift response, raced to the scene and with the assistance of members of the public arrested the suspect while two others escaped with the gang's operational motorcycle.
Items recovered from the arrested suspect included a locally-made pistol and three cartridges.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member of an armed gang terrorising residents of Bode Thomas, Surulere and other parts of the State recently.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the case be transferred to the Command's Special Squad for further investigation.
The CP, while commending the quick response of the patrol team of the Division, enjoins members of the public to have confidence in the police by giving prompt and reliable information at all times.
