 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies. The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has told Nigerians to stop cursing their leaders over hardship.


According to Sanusi, people must suffer for things to get right. He said;


“In my own knowledge about economy, I know that we must suffer to get things right.


“What is expected of us now is patient, fervent prayers and we must stand up to get things better in our own way through a legitimate ways.


“We must desist from abusing or cursing our leaders because the Holy Prophet is against that.


“And we will not involve ourselves in corrupt practices and other atrocities because our religion preaches against it.


“We must change for the better and remain committed to peace and development of our societies."
