 World’s Youngest Reigning Monarch , King Oyo, Dies at 34 King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch after ascending the throne at three, has died at the age of 34. The monarch reportedly died on Thursday, with the Prime Minister of the Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announcing his death on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports quoted a government minister as saying that King Oyo had been critically ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States. Reacting to the development, Akiiki described the monarch’s death as a major loss to the royal family and the people of Tooro. He urged members of the kingdom to remain united and calm while mourning the traditional ruler. ALAAFIN OF OYO TELLS NIGERIANS TO SHUN CALLS FOR DISINTEGRATION BUT EMBRACES UNITY.[PHOTO]

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, has called on Nigerians to shun those calling for the nation’s disintegration and work toward the promotion of its unity.


Adeyemi III gave the advice on Sunday at the inauguration of 35 classrooms at the Royal Gold Model Group of Schools and foundation laying of a Mosque in Ibadan.


The traditional ruler said a lot of things had happened in the past that resulted in ethnicity and tribalism among Nigerians.


He then, urged Nigerians to find a way of reconciling one another and forget about the past in order to move the country forward.


“I don’t think that separating the state is the way out, but we can restructure the country in such a way that we will have peace and tranquillity and live in harmony.


“There is need to unite in order to save Nigeria from disintegration,” the Alaafin said.
