  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. The Imo State Government through the Special Adviser/General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), Engr. Francis Chukwu, on Monday  kick started the recovery of land assets belonging to Imolites,sequel to State Government plans to return illegally converted lands by previous administration to the original owners.


According to the OCDA boss, he stated that the government is leaving no stone unturned in returning illegally acquired properties to the original owner, he said that the 3R administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma,is one that believes in transparency and accountability in service to the people. 


In another development traders occupying old timber market have been asked to relocate to their permanent site in Naze Owerri North within one month, while those at Naze roundabout were asked to vacate the green verge area. 


According to Engr. Chukwu, is in a bid to restoring the master plan of the capital city, stressing that it is hazardous trading at those areas, which is not in the original master plan of the city.
