 Tragedy Averted as 120-Year-Old Ancestral Tree Falls at Obosi Market By Chiedu Okoye A major tragedy was averted at Eke Obosi Market in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State after a 120-year-old ancestral tree collapsed, destroying shops and goods but leaving traders and visitors unharmed. The massive tree, estimated to be about 150 feet tall, fell within the market premises, damaging at least 12 shops and valuable merchandise. Residents and traders described the incident as miraculous, noting that no lives were lost despite the extent of the destruction. The fallen tree held significant cultural importance as a sacred symbol of Eke Obosi Market, which is regarded as a stronghold of the traditions and cultural heritage of the Obosi people. Beyond serving as a centre for commercial activities, the market is also known as a venue for communal traditional rites and ceremonies. DIOCESE OF NIGER WEST ORDAINS PRIESTS,OTHERS AT CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. GABRIEL UMUERI.{PHOTOS}.#CONGRATULATIONS


Thirteen persons have been ordained Deacons and Priests respectively while two priests were installed Canons and four Canons were collated Archdeacons by the bishop Diocese of Niger West, Rt. Reverend Dr Johnson Ekwe at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel Umueri, Anambra East.


Performing the function, Bishop Ekwe charged them to be diligent in prayers, reading the Bible and in all studies that will deepen  their faith and fit them to uphold the truth of the gospel against error and as well fashion their lives according to the way of Christ.


Bishop Ekwe urged them to promote unity, peace and love among all people, especially among those they serve and advised their wives to be supportive to their husbands for effective ministry.


Delivering a sermon, the retreatant and the Clerical Synod Secretary of the Diocese, Venerable Dr. Charles Chukwurah who spoke on " The minister of the end time church" said that every dispensation has its challenge but this dispensation has many challenges including false teachings.


Ven. Dr. Chukwurah said that God has been anointing and empowering ministers for his work as the church needs ministers who will continue with the work of redemption and salvation noting that end time church needs ministers whose hearts are prepared urging them to teach the word of God.


The priests before the ordination made some declarations and took oaths of canonical obedience, of submission and of allegiance to God.
