 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday.  Many Feared Dead, Several Injured In Agulu Lake Auto Crash



Many persons were burnt beyond recognition with several others injured in a fatal auto crash that occurred at Agulu Lake Bridge.


The accident which occurred this evening, Sunday, December 26th, 2021 involved a truck, a shuttle and a Mitsubishi bus.


An eyewitness, Micheal Anochie told Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) that the accident occurred when a Mack Truck loaded with chippings tried to manoeuvre the truck when it lost control and hit the Mitsubishi bus from the rear and then hit the shuttle coming from the other lane.


He said almost all the passengers on board were burnt beyond recognition.


When ABS arrived the scene, it was observed that fire fighters from the State fire service were at the scene battling to quench the fire, but the two buses  and passengers on board have been burnt beyond recognition.


Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps quickly moved the injured persons to a nearby hospital.


As at the time of filing this report, no one could ascertain the number of dead persons, as efforts to speak with relevant authorities were futile.
