 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NUC RECOGNIZES K O MBADIWE UNIVERSITY IN IMO STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE

The National University Commission (NUC) has recognized and approved the operational license of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ogboko, Imo State as the 42nd State owned University in Nigeria.


At a brief event held at the headquarters of the commission in Abuja, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma today the 8th day of December 2021, received the letter of recognition from NUC which approved the University as the 42nd State University in Nigeria and the 143rd University in the Nigerian University System, which remains consistent with the Commission's earlier communication dated April 2016.


While presenting the letter, Professor Abubarkar Adamu Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, congratulated Governor Uzodimma and assured him of the commission's readiness to assist the state in her academic strides.


It will be recalled that following the recovery of the institution by the Shared Prosperity Administration, the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) passed a law establishing the K. O Mbadiwe University, Ogboko and by this license, all is now set for the institution to offer full academic activities for the accredited courses.
