 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday. EFCC Arraigns Car Dealer for N2m Fraud in Gombe


The Gombe Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 arraigned a Car dealer, Ahmadu Dauda Jadda, before Justice J.A. Awak of Gombe State High Court on a one count charge of stealing to the tune of N2,000,000.00 ( Two Million Naira) only.


Jadda, who deals in used vehicles, was alleged to have approached the complainant to purchase a Volkswagen Sharon bus at N2, 000,000. He offered to pay N1.200, 000 in two weeks and the balance in four equal installments.


After taking possession of the vehicle, the defendant only paid N500, 000. And, all efforts by the complainant to recover the balance or his vehicle, failed.


Investigation by EFCC revealed that the defendant upon taking possession of the vehicle, promptly sold it and diverted the proceed for personal use.
